Canadian scientists at Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada (AAFC) have achieved a monumental breakthrough in crop science by successfully sequencing the oat genome.

This genetic map enables marker-assisted selection, drastically speeding up the breeding process. Breeders can now rapidly identify desirable traits such as disease resistance, yield, and climate resilience.
