With just over a week until the United States elects its next president, a new poll suggests farmers will vote for Donald Trump.

An Agri-Pulse Farm and Ranch poll asked approximately 750 farmers across the country who they’re voting for on November 8, and the consensus was for the Republican candidate.

According to the survey, 55 per cent of respondents said they will vote for Donald Trump, compared to 18 per cent for Hillary Clinton.

The remaining 27 per cent either refused to answer, considered themselves undecided, or were voting for the Libertarian or Green Party candidate.

When it comes to the voter breakdown, the poll shows Trump received support from 59 per cent of male voters and 37 per cent of female voters. On the other hand, Clinton scored 15 per cent of the male vote and 33 per cent of the female vote.

Trump’s largest successes in the poll came in Ohio and Florida, where approximately 68 and 58 per cent of farmers lent their support to the GOP candidate, respectively.

According to the poll, 18.9 per cent of respondents said economic growth is the most important issue heading into the election. 6.1 per cent said the Farm Bill is the top issue, and 5.9 per cent said it is immigration and ag labor.

The poll also asked farmers whether they were “satisfied or dissatisfied with the overall condition of American agriculture today.”

More than 30 per cent said they are very dissatisfied, and 29.7 per cent said they’re somewhat dissatisfied.

Only 5.6 per cent said they were very satisfied with American agriculture as it currently stands.
