These are words that are often used to describe innovators. Innovators like the farmer who created a new piece of equipment to solve a harvest problem. Or the tech founder who developed a new app to protect livestock and humans from disease threats. Or the teacher with a farm background who designed a program to increase food literacy in an urban school very far from the farm. And that is why Canada’s Farm Show Regina, SK, presented by Viterra has introduced the Innovator Program, presented in partnership with Farms.com and Greenwave Innovations. The Innovator Program at CFS shifts the focus from the innovations to the innovators themselves. As the agricultural community gathers at CFS to prepare for the upcoming growing season, these innovations are an inspiration - not only through their achievements, but their collaborative spirits, knowledge sharing, and the mentorship they provide among their peers. The Innovator Program consists of four categories: • Emerging Innovator: Recognizes an up-and-coming innovator who has made significant contributions to innovation in their field. • Lifetime Innovator: Celebrates a veteran innovator whose long-standing contributions have advanced the agricultural industry over the years. • Farmer Innovator: Celebrates a farmer who adopts new technologies on their farm. • Community Innovator: Acknowledges an innovator who has made a positive impact on their local community through agricultural initiatives, education, or outreach. The Innovators Program seeks to create a lasting impact on the future of farming by recognizing the invaluable contributions of those dedicated to advancing the agricultural community and who will continue to do so. The agricultural industry will continue to rely on the passion, determination and hard work of innovators as we strive to do more with less and feed our world’s growing population. We need the brightest minds continuing to collaborate to get the most from our land, while ensuring that we keep sustainability top of mind in making progress.
