A new innovation from Case IH helps manage an issue many row crop farmers face: ensuring implements like planters trail directly behind tractors. “We add a receiver to our implement so we know exactly how that implement is tracking behind the planter,” Kendal Quandahl, precision segment lead with Case IH, told Farms.com Precision Ag Digital Digest. “In combination with a steerable hitch control, we can adjust the position of the implement.” This combination of precision tech helps actively move the implement back and forth to maintain the same guidance line the tractor is following. This can be especially helpful when farming in uneven terrain, where farmers could naturally see some implement drift due to gravity or while making a curved pass, Quandahl says. Controlling the implement allows for perfect passes with the tractor. Which can lead to more efficient and precise applications later in the season. “You can come back through later subsequent applications and maintain that sub-inch accuracy,” Quandahl said. “Being able to control exactly where your implement is causes less crop damage throughout the year.” PHOTO: Case IH This Innovation Helps Tackle a Traditional Challenge in Farming DIEGO FLAMMINI FARMS.COM 10 CASE IH INTRODUCES ACTIVE IMPLEMENT GUIDANCE
