10 Case IH is bringing a new solution to its application equipment. SenseApply is the manufacturer’s version of Sense & Act technology, which collects environmental data and makes the necessary machine function adjustments. “It boils down to a single cab-mounted camera that gives us a number of different live variable rate applications (VRA) as well as capability to upgrade to green-on-brown spot spray capability,” Alex Caldwell, a crop application marketing manager with Case IH, told the Farms.com Precision Agriculture Digital Digest. The live VRA applications include burndown, nitrogen, harvest aid, plant growth regulators, and fungicides. SenseApply technology can be used on Patriot or Trident machines. The camera looks about 50 feet in front of the vehicle and can capture a swath width of about 140 feet, which represents all of Case IH’s largest booms. It has six lenses capturing five different wavelengths of light. Those images are layered together to get robust health biomass information. Using live VRA, the equipment can travel up to 25 mph. For spot spraying, operators can work at speeds up to 19 mph. By the time the machine is over top of the area the camera just scanned, it will apply a specific dose over that part of the field.
