What do glue sticks, envelope glue and plywood glue all have in common? Other than the fact they keep things stuck together, they're all made from corn. It's cornstarch that activates when an envelope is licked and the back becomes sticky. Corn germ, the leftovers of when the corn oil has been extracted, is used to increase the adhesiveness of industrial glues.
