Eating celery burns more calories than the vegetable provides, an experiment confirmed.
In 2016, English researchers placed Matt Tebbutt, a food show host, in a chamber that measured every calorie burned while he ate celery over a 12-hour period.
During that time, he ate 326 grams of raw celery and drank a celery smoothie. Each item had 53 calories. He burned 72 calories while eating the raw celery and 112 calories drinking the smoothie.
