Football analysts have been breaking down Sunday’s Super Bowl between the Denver Broncos and Carolina Panthers for weeks.

Whose defence will play better? Which player could make the biggest impact? Could Peyton Manning end his career with another championship?

Farms.com reached out to members of the agricultural community to predict who’s going to win, the reasons why, and the final score.

“I think a football team will win,” said Neil Currie, general manager for the Ontario Federation of Agriculture. “I have to go with Denver. He (Manning) is an old guy and I can relate to that.”

Currie predicted the final score would be 35-2 in favor of the Denver Broncos.

Rich Smith, executive director of Alberta Beef Producers, is rooting for one team but ultimately thinks the other will win.

“I’m cheering for Denver but I think Carolina is going to win,” he said.

Smith said he’s leaning to Denver because his son is a Broncos fan. He predicted the score to be 24-10 for Cam Newton and Carolina.

Tara Strickland, a sales support coordinator for AgCareers.com and based in North Carolina, is obviously biased in her prediction.

“The Carolina Panthers are of course going to win,” she said. “We have Cam Newton. Sorry Peyton Manning, you’re going to have to go out with a loss!”

Strickland said she’ll be wearing her Panthers shirt and painting her nails accordingly while watching Carolina win 28-24.

Bob Etheridge, State executive director of the North Carolina Farm Service Agency also thinks the betting line favorite will prevail.

“It’s got to be the Panthers,” he said. “There’s absolutely no other way! Whoever scores first will win the game.”

Etheridge said he’d sleep more comfortably if the Panthers win by at least a touchdown, partly because he has a wager with his Colorado counterpart. The loser has to wear the opposing team’s shirt, take a photo and post it online.

Not to be outdone, Brent Boydston, vice-president of public policy for the Colorado Farm Bureau, thinks the Broncos will be the Super Bowl champions.

“Of course the Broncos are going to win,” he said. “They’re going to wipe up.”

Boydston’s score prediction was 42-14 in favor of his hometown Broncos.

Check back Monday to see who was right.
