Agriculture meetings to take place in New Mexico

Meetings scheduled to start in December 2015

By Diego Flammini, Farms.com

In an effort to bring together the voices of farmers, ranchers, commercial marketers, consumers, educators and other types of people whose work impacts the agriculture community, New Mexico First and New Mexico State University County Extension Service are hosting a series of regional meetings.

The Resilience in New Mexico Agriculture Community Meetings will look at the issues, trends and challenges facing agriculture, along with solutions to some of the industry’s pressing issues.

Organizers are confident the meetings will lead to a statewide plan that can assist in many ways including:

  • Creating common ground around food and agriculture policies
  • Generating ideas for more economic value for producers and economic vitality for consumers
  • Coming up with strategies to support younger generations interested in agriculture
  • Tackling water, land-use, climate change and economic issues

Meetings will be held in 11 counties, beginning on Wednesday, December 2nd and continuing until March 2016.
