Bite of Brant goes virtual for 2021

Bite of Brant will be virtual this year as farm organizations continue to cancel in-person events due to COVID-19.

The agricultural awareness educators have recently announced that Grade 4 through 6 students from Brant County will be able to connect from the classroom to the farm April 6 to 9.

Organizers cancelled the event in 2020 for the first time in 24 consecutive years.

“After having to cancel last year, being able to use Zoom to bring the students and farmers together for this year’s event really shows how dedicated our committee is to educating the kids,” Bite of Brant's committee chair, Jean Emmott, told Farms.com.

The nine-member committee sees the Brantford and Brant Public, Private and Catholic School Boards participate in the program, which was previously hosted at the Burford Agricultural Society Fairgrounds.

“We hope to see farmers and students in person next year, but we are making the best of the situation and still educating young people in Brant County,” Emmott said.
