Cleanfarms is collecting unwanted agricultural pesticides and outdated livestock medications in Northern Saskatchewan.

The organization is holding one-day collection events from Oct. 1 to 5 at 20 designated ag retail locations, a Cleanfarms Inc. release said on Thursday. A list of locations for each day can be found here.

The collection days will run from 10 a.m to 4 p.m. and Cleanfarms will accept materials for free.

Unwanted pesticides must have a Pest Control Product number on the label and only livestock medications with a DIN number, serial number or Pest Control Product number will be collected, the release said.

Cleanfarms will not accept items such as fertilizer, treated seed, needles, medicated feed, aerosol containers, veterinary clinic waste or household hazardous waste. A full list of products can be found here.

The collection program is supported by the crop protection industry and the Canadian Animal Health Institute, the release said.

In 2017, Cleanfarms collected 181,804 kg of unwanted pesticides and 2,804 kg of livestock and equine medications in southern Saskatchewan, the release said.

Collection in southern Saskatchewan is scheduled for the fall of 2020.

Cleanfarms is a non-profit environmental stewardship organization. It provides Canadian farmers with opportunities to safely and responsibly manage agricultural waste.
