Two ag groups say an African Swine Fever (ASF) trade recovery plan needs to be established to protect the Canadian pork industry if the disease enters Canada.
The Canadian Pork Council and Canadian Meat Council discussed the importance of such a program with legislators during meetings in Ottawa.
Both councils stressed the importance of a reliable agricultural workforce, urging the government to prioritize solutions that support the sector’s year-round labour needs, which are essential to maintaining production and meeting the demands of the domestic and international markets.
