The California State Board of Food and Agriculture will meet on Tuesday, August 4th at the California Department of Food and Agriculture facility in Sacramento to discuss incentive programs for farmers, ranchers and communities who reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

Incentive

“Programs that are being offered within the state are giving farmers and ranchers the opportunity to reduce their greenhouse gas emissions and contribute to reducing the overall impacts from climate change,” said CDFA Secretary Karen Ross. “In addition to building drought and climate resiliency on our farms, the solutions incentivized by these programs are practical and timely.”

The meeting, scheduled to take place from 10am – 2pm will feature guest speakers including Ken Alex, Randall Winston and John Lowrie from the California Strategic Growth Council, Juliet Christian-Smith, from the Union of Concerned Scientists who will talk about climate change, and representatives from the California Department of Food and Agriculture.

Karla Nemeth, representing California Natural Resources Agency will also provide a drought update.

“As a farmer, I know that improvements in irrigation practices and soil conservation provide opportunities to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and further California’s climate adaptation goals,” said Craig McNamara, president of the California State Board of Food and Agriculture.

For those that wish to participate in the meeting but can’t make it, the meeting will be streamed online.

In 2013, California’s highest greenhouse gas produced was carbon dioxide. As a whole, agriculture contributed 8% of California’s greenhouse gas emissions.

Demco's dual auger grain cart is designed for unloading efficiency, operator visibility, and safety in the field.

This dual-auger design features both an unload auger and a floor auger for enhanced grain cleanout and consistent flow, and the 22-inch unload auger is capable of moving up to 600 bushels per minute.

Farmers can also choose between right or left-handed unload options—right-handed unload improves visibility from the tractor cab. A new design allows both vertical and horizontal movement for precise grain placement during unloading.

Another key feature is the built-in fire safety system; a 300-gallon onboard water tank with a hose reel that provides field-ready fire suppression capability.

These dual auger grain carts are available in 1100, 1300, 1500, 1700, and 2200 bushel sizes.
