Jaylor, a southern Ontario feed mixer manufacturer, announced it acquired a controlling stake in Colorado’s MMI International.
Formerly known as Mohrlang Manufacturing, MMI manufacturers four-auger horizontal feed mixers, delivery boxes and manure spreaders for the American feedlot industry.
The horizontal augers MMI produces can accompany the vertical augers Jaylor is known for, according to company executives.
“For decades we’ve been die-hard proponents of the vertical auger, and on most operations it is the best solution, but there are some commercial applications where the horizontal mixer has proven to be a better fit,” Jake Tamminga, Jaylor president, said in a release.
“The proprietary quad auger design that (MMI CEO) Dan Powers, and his team at MMI developed, takes advantage of modern hydrostatic smart controls while still being functionally simple and reliable.”
Jaylor will produce three truck mount models of the Horizontal Quad Auger TMR Mixers: H1650, H1850 and H1950. They will range in capacity from 650 cubic feet to 950 cu.ft. By the end of 2017 Jaylor will introduce a full line of MMI products, including truck mounted manure spreaders, delivery boxes and trailer model horizontal TMR mixers.
Working together with Jaylor is good news for MMI’s existing customers, says MMI CEO Dan Powers.
“MMI is widely known among feedlot managers for building rugged, reliable horizontal auger mixers that operate efficiently and with long term service.” Powers said in the release. “These benefits, and Jaylor’s long term stability and international marketing success, will provide assured reliability for all our customers.”
Jaylor partners with Storti S.p.A.
During the Canadian Dairy Expo, Jaylor announced its partnership with Storti S.p.A., Italian manufacturer of the Doberman EVO self-propelled TMR mixer line.
Jaylor will distribute four models, the SV170AS, SW220AS, SW270GPAS and SW300GPHS. The capacities range from 600cu.ft. to 1060cu.ft.
“The units are equipped with the exclusive Fiber Pickup System, which is optimized for loading long forage one direction and fine material in the other, to save time and ensure the silage bunk face is optimally maintained,” Jaylor said in the release.
