USMEF Recognizes Giordano with Prestigious Mansfield Award

The U.S. Meat Export Federation (USMEF) is set to honor Nick Giordano with the Michael J. Mansfield Award at their upcoming Strategic Planning Conference on November 7, 2024, in Tucson, Arizona.  

This recognition comes as a testament to Giordano’s extensive impact on the meat export sector and his efforts in enhancing U.S. trade relations globally. 

Nick Giordano, formerly the lead lobbyist for the National Pork Producers Council (NPPC), has been a pivotal figure in agricultural trade for over a quarter of a century.  

His career at NPPC began in 1995, Giordano has been instrumental in negotiating critical trade agreements that have significantly influenced U.S. agricultural policies and practices. 

The Michael J. Mansfield Award, named after the esteemed U.S. Senate majority leader and ambassador to Japan, is one of USMEF’s most prestigious accolades.

It is awarded to individuals who have made significant strides in advancing U.S. trade relationships across the globe.

Mansfield’s five decades of service set a high benchmark in diplomatic and trade achievements, mirrored by Giordano’s contributions to the sector.

Giordano’s efforts were crucial in securing market access through various significant agreements such as the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA), the Korea-U.S. Free Trade Agreement (FTA), and several other trade pacts in Latin America.

U.S. pork has seen substantial growth in its international presence, benefiting from his strategic negotiations and trade advocacy.

His role in shaping these trade initiatives underscores a legacy of dedication to improving U.S. agricultural export performance in the competitive global marketplace.

Giordano’s upcoming recognition at the USMEF conference highlights the critical role of leadership and vision in the agricultural trade industry, celebrating his enduring commitment and impactful contributions to the U.S. meat export sector.
