New program engages young minds in pork advocacy

At the forefront of agricultural leadership development, the National Pork Producers Council (NPPC) has introduced the "Young Pork Advocates Strategic Investment Program."

Targeting young adults from 18 to 22 years old, this program aims to integrate them into the core activities of the pork industry through advocacy and education.

The program kicked off with a spirited competition at the 2024 World Pork Expo, where Emma Kuhns won the Young Pork Advocates Issues Meet. Her success underscores the program's role in nurturing proactive involvement and leadership among its participants.

For a minimal annual investment, members receive in-depth communications about crucial policy issues, opportunities for advocacy training, and chances to attend significant legislative events.

Membership perks include free registration at the World Pork Expo, NPPC-branded merchandise, and exclusive webinars, creating a robust framework for professional and personal development within the agricultural sector.

Lori Stevermer, President of the NPPC, stated that this initiative is pivotal for cultivating a knowledgeable and passionate next generation ready to advocate effectively for the pork industry.

By encouraging young people to participate, NPPC is setting the stage for a more dynamic and informed leadership landscape in agriculture. This program not only enriches the participants' understanding and skills but also aligns with NPPC's long-term vision of fostering leadership and innovation in the pork industry.
