Precision Agriculture Scholarship Contest Deadline Extended

Precision Agriculture Scholarship Contest Deadline Extended

By Andrew Joseph, Farms.com

The future of farming relies on the abilities of tomorrow’s farmers, but so too does its precision ag technology.

Farms.com is pleased to offer its Precision Agriculture Scholarship for a second year. The deadline has been extended to Friday, October 22, 2021.  Interested students should act quickly so as not to miss this deadline extension.

There are many reasons to adopt precision agriculture technology, such as the means to increase yield and profits, and the reduction of waste, costs, and the farm’s carbon footprint on the environment.

Farms.com is looking for three students—one each from Canada, the U.S. and the U.K., who have a new concept or idea regarding the precision agriculture sector that if realized will have a positive impact on the environment or will showcase social responsibility. What can you teach us?

Students may be studying in any field, not just agriculture, such as robotics, AI, engineering, environmental science, etc.  But, the ideas must be practical and appealing to farmers, as they will be the ones voting on the concepts for farmers in North America and the United Kingdom.

In addition to the $2,000 (US) scholarship prize, the winners—as determined by farmer voting in each country—will be invited to participate in a Student Panel as part of our Farms.com Precision Ag Virtual Conference in November 2021, where they will have the opportunity to present their concept in greater detail to farmers attending the virtual event.

How to Win
Students are invited to submit their idea via either the social media video platform Twitter or Facebook. The two-minute or less video should describe the student’s research/thesis or new idea or technology regarding precision agriculture and its potential positive impact on the environment or how it is socially responsible.

Your video should include:

  • Student(s) first name(s);
  • Include the hashtag #PAG21scholarship;
  • Entries should also tag the following social media accounts:

- Twitter: @FarmsNews, @OntAg, @FarmsPrairies
- Facebook: @Farmscom

For privacy reasons, video submissions should not include student’s full name, email or telephone number in the submission.

After receiving a contest entry, Farms.com will direct message students for further information.

Eligibility
This Contest is open only to full-time undergraduate or graduate students in Canada, the U.K. or the U.S. who are currently enrolled in a recognized university, college, state college, or university college, and who enter the contest between June 1, 2021 and October 22, 2021.
