Three Canadian 2013 Nuffield Farming Scholars Named

Nuffield Canada Scholarships Offer Agricultural Leaders Personal Development Through International Study

The 2013 Nuffield Scholars have been announced – two of them from Ontario and one from Manitoba. Three Nuffield Farming Scholarships are awarded each year to leaders across Canada so that they can help promote the advancement of agriculture.

Gayl Creutzberg of Wroxeter, Ontario will be using her scholarship to study whether traditional food growing practices can help strengthen our diets and local economies. Creutzberg has been successful in launching a local food brand and an online farmers market called – Gumboot Gourmet.

Blake Vince of Merlin, Ontario is another one of the recipients of the Nuffield scholarships. He plans on examining conserving farmland with cover crops and the potential risks of cellulosic energy. Vince is a sales representative for Pioneer and also serves as a director for the Innovative Farmers Association of Ontario.

Clayton Robins of Manitoba was the third Nuffield scholarship recipient.

The scholarship is available to those involved in the agricultural industry between the ages of 25 to 45. Recipients each receive $15,000. More information about the scholarship can be found at http://nuffield.ca/.
