Peanut producers planted approximately 23,000 acres, an increase of 4,000 from 2014. They are also expected to harvest 23,000 acres, again an increase of 4,000 acres since last year.

The total number of peanuts planted in America is estimated to be around 1.60 million acres, which is a substantial 18% increase compared to 2014.

When it comes to corn, Virginia’s planting acres remained the same as 2014’s at 500,000 acres. However, the area for harvested grain is estimated to drop 10,000 acres to 340,000 acres.

Total U.S. corn planting is estimated at 88.9 million acres, with 81.1 million acres expected to be harvested.

Virginia winter wheat numbers are around 260,000 acres planted, down 30,000 acres from 2014. Harvested acres of wheat are expected to be about 225,000 acres, a 35,000 acre drop from last year.

Total American winter wheat planted is about 40.6 million acres, a decline of 4% since 2014. Despite the drop, harvested acres are expected to be 33.3 million acres, a 3% increase from 2014.
