2020 Farm Custom Rates Available

Pennsylvania NASS no longer does a custom rate survey, so we need to look to other states.

Information from other States

This guide has additional activities such as vertical tillage, no-till planting with splitters, and extra charge for seed shut-offs. It also has more detailed harvesting operations such as complete harvesting rates, grain cart rates, and moving bales to storage rates. The miscellaneous services include nearly a one-page list of activities such as snow removal, scouting crops with a drone, livestock hauling, and using a truck scale. Lastly, in addition to tractor rental rates, they list rates for some other equipment such as no-till drill, corn or grain head, grain cart, bin wagon, manure spreader, generator, and skid loader rental rates.

I always advise farmers that these rate schedules are intended only as a guide. Actual custom rates may vary according to availability of machinery in a given area, timeliness, operator skill, field size and shape, crop conditions, and the performance characteristics of the machine being used.

Video: Planting Corn with Classic Allis-Chalmers Tractors | Full Field Action

Step into the field for a full day of spring fieldwork as this farm plants corn using classic Allis-Chalmers power near Arcanum, Ohio. In this video, the farm is working ground with an Allis-Chalmers 8050 pulling a Salford field cultivator and Brillion Culti-Packer to prepare the seedbed. Right behind, an Allis-Chalmers 7020 handles planting duties with a 12-row White planter, putting this year’s corn crop in the ground. You’ll see a mix of aerial drone footage and ground-level views capturing all the action, along with a voiceover that dives into the history and legacy of these two Allis-Chalmers tractors. It’s a great look at how reliable, older equipment is still getting the job done during spring planting season. If you enjoy classic farm equipment, corn planting, and real-world field action, this one is for you.
