50th Annual Harvest Bowl Program to Celebrate NDSU Athletes and Agriculturists

The 50th annual Harvest Bowl program at North Dakota State University will be held Nov. 15 and 16.

Each year the Harvest Bowl program recognizes the dedication and hard work of outstanding agriculturists in 53 counties in North Dakota and 10 counties in western Minnesota, awards scholarships to deserving student-athletes and celebrates an agribusiness award recipient that has distinguished themselves in the world of agriculture and business.

The 2024 NDSU Harvest Bowl Agribusiness Award recipient is Steve Bobb, a 1982 NDSU graduate and retired Executive Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer for BNSF. Bobb’s full bio is available at https://ndsufoundation.com/harvest-bowl/agribusiness-award.

Scholarships will be awarded to 21 North Dakota State University athletes during the Harvest Bowl program.

Harvest Bowl scholarship awardees, sport, hometown and major are:

  • LeVon C. Kirkeide and Friends Harvest Bowl Scholarship; Thorsrud Harvest Bowl Scholarship - Braden Brown is a senior who competes in jumps for NDSU Men’s Track and Field from Bismarck, North Dakota, majoring in Agricultural Economics. He is the son of Shannon and Paula Brown.
  • Hefty Seeds Harvest Bowl Scholarship; Darrell Larson Family Scholarship; Bob and Darlene Yaggie Football Scholarship - Hunter Brozio is a senior fullback on the NDSU Football team from Lakeland, Florida, majoring in Animal Science. His parents are Jeff and Debbie Brozio.
  • Terry Goerger Women’s Athletics Harvest Bowl Scholarship; NDSU Harvest Bowl Scholarship Fund - Julia Gherardi is a junior pole vaulter for NDSU Women’s Track and Field from Hibbing, Minnesota, majoring in Natural Resource Management. Her parents are Mandy and Paul Gherardi.
  • John and Kay Dean Harvest Bowl Scholarship; Terry Goerger Harvest Bowl Scholarship Endowment; Pamela and Brent Jenkins Harvest Bowl Scholarship - Boeden Greenley is a redshirt freshman wrestler on the NDSU Wrestling team from Lisbon, North Dakota, majoring in Crop and Weed Science. His parents are Jamie and Randall Greenley.
  • Farmers National Foundation Harvest Bowl Scholarship; Hefty Seeds Harvest Bowl Scholarship - Nate Tastad is a freshman offensive tackle on the NDSU Football team from Rolette, North Dakota, majoring in Agricultural Economics. He is the son of Matt and Cynthia Tastad.
  • NDSU Harvest Bowl Scholarship Fund - Austin Bergum is a senior right-handed pitcher on the NDSU Baseball from Forest Lake, Minnesota, majoring in Biological Sciences. He is the son of Eric and Jodi Bergum.
  • Thorsrud Harvest Bowl Scholarship; Red River Commodities Scholarship Fund - Zach McGlynn is a senior competing in multi-events on the NDSU Men’s Track and Field team from Stephen, Minnesota, majoring in Agricultural Economics. His parents are Steven and Melanie McGlynn.
  • Hefty Seeds Harvest Bowl Scholarship; Titan Machinery Scholarship Endowment; #64 Bob and #58 Bruce Yaggie Father-Son Football Scholarship - Mason Miller is a senior offensive tackle on the NDSU Football team from Ada, Minnesota, majoring in General Agriculture. He is the son of Paul and Dawn Miller.
  • Myron and Muriel Johnsrud Harvest Bowl Endowment; Nipstad Family Athletic Scholarship Endowment - Noah Stommes is a freshman offensive tackle for the NDSU Football team from Richmond, Minnesota, majoring in Business. He is the son of Reuben and Janice Stommes.
  • Patrick Benedict Harvest Bowl Scholarship Endowment - Arrianna Blohm is a sophomore middle blocker for NDSU Women’s Volleyball team from Spring Valley, Minnesota, majoring in Exercise Science. Her parents are Darvin and Deanna Blohm.
  • Gene Dahl Scholarship Fund - Bryce Enerson is a senior competing in multi-events on the NDSU Men’s Track and Field team from Grand Forks, North Dakota, majoring in Accounting. His parents are Norm and Lisa Enerson.
  • Gooseneck Implement/Green Iron Equipment Harvest Bowl Endowment - Thomas Huneke is a redshirt freshman thrower for the NDSU Men’s Track and Field team from Underwood, Iowa, majoring in Physical Education. He is the son of Daniel and Emily Huneke.
  • Jim and Norma Swanson Family Scholarship Endowment; Hefty Seeds Harvest Bowl Scholarship - Jett Zabel is a freshman tight end for the NDSU Football team from Pierre, South Dakota, majoring in Construction Management. He is the son of Mark and Tanna Zabel.
  • Hefty Seeds Harvest Bowl Scholarship; Scott and Ann Dau Family Scholarship - Grey Zabel is a senior offensive guard on the NDSU Football team from Pierre, South Dakota, majoring in Agribusiness. His parents are Mark and Tanna Zabel.
  • Glenn and Alice Strouse Ellingsberg Harvest Bowl Scholarship; Terry Goerger Harvest Bowl Scholarship - Cullen Curl is a junior sprinter/hurdler on the NDSU Men’s Track and Field team from Bismarck, North Dakota, majoring in Biological Sciences. His parents are Bill and Gretchen Curl.
  • Richard and Kelly R. Sager Harvest Bowl Endowment; Jim Kirkeide Memorial Harvest Bowl Scholarship - Blake Boyster is a sprinter on the NDSU Men’s Track and Field team from Custer, South Dakota, majoring in Finance. His parents are Brandon and Kristina Boyster.
  • Kent and Jodi Carlson Harvest Bowl Endowment - Adam Dugger is a redshirt freshman jumper on the NDSU Men’s Track and Field team from McCook, Nebraska, majoring in Physical Education. His parents are Kenneth and Christy Dugger.
  • Ron and Karen Offutt Scholarship - Trey Heinrich is a sophomore hurdler on the NDSU Men’s Track and Field team from Kindred, North Dakota, majoring in Biological Sciences. His parents are Josh and Laura Heinrich.
  • Lynden and Kathy Johnson Harvest Bowl Scholarship; Jim Kirkeide Memorial Harvest Bowl Scholarship - Ella Gardner is a sophomore jumper on the NDSU Women’s Track and Field team from Nora, Nebraska, majoring in Psychology. Her parents are BJ and Angie Gardner.
  • Hetle Family Harvest Bowl Scholarship - Laney Songster is a freshman hurdler on the NDSU Women’s Track and Field team from Lincoln, Nebraska, majoring in Exercise Science. Her parents are Craig and Katie Songster.
  • Lauf Family Scholarship; LD Loftsgard Harvest Bowl Scholarship Endowment - Rylin Petry is a junior on the NDSU Men’s Golf team from Fertile, Minnesota, majoring in Finance with a minor in Agribusiness. His parents are Timothy and Angela Petry.

Highlights of the event include a Harvest Bowl dinner and awards program on Nov. 15 at the Delta Hotels by Marriott Fargo, and the Harvest Bowl football game between NDSU and Missouri State on Nov. 16.

As the state’s land-grant university, NDSU plays a major role in contributing knowledge through research, academic programs and NDSU Extension. Through the Harvest Bowl program, more than 3,000 agriculturists have been recognized and more than $1,535,000 in scholarships has been awarded to NDSU student-athletes who are studying agriculture, business or premed and come from an agricultural background.
