Ag Critic Feeling Positive About CUSMA Ratification

Canada is expected to become the third country to ratify the new Canada-United States-Mexico Agreement (CUSMA) next week.

The trade agreement between Canada, the United States, and Mexico helps ease trade between the North American countries.

Though the NDP and Bloc Quebecois have said they'd like to examine the text in Parliament, it is expected the Conservative Party will support Justin Trudeau and the Liberals in ratifying the agreement.

Conservative Ag Critic John Barlow says ratifying the agreement is an important step for producers.

"In my constituency, when it comes to agriculture, getting the new NAFTA agreement done is pretty critical," he said. "We want to ensure we have access to those markets. We're not necessarily happy with everything with NAFTA, but getting the deal done is important."

Among the issues Barlow has with the deal are tariffs on aluminum and steel.

He also says the agreement could hamstring future trade agreements with other countries.

"As part of the new NAFTA agreement, had Canada wanted to enter a free trade agreement with China, we would have to get the approval of the United States to do that. If the US didn't like the agreement, they could expel us through the new NAFTA agreement. We do not have that same power over the United States."

Video: Demco Dual Aguer Grain Carts — Fire Safety Systems, Right or Left-Handed Unload, and More!

Demco's dual auger grain cart is designed for unloading efficiency, operator visibility, and safety in the field.

This dual-auger design features both an unload auger and a floor auger for enhanced grain cleanout and consistent flow, and the 22-inch unload auger is capable of moving up to 600 bushels per minute.

Farmers can also choose between right or left-handed unload options—right-handed unload improves visibility from the tractor cab. A new design allows both vertical and horizontal movement for precise grain placement during unloading.

Another key feature is the built-in fire safety system; a 300-gallon onboard water tank with a hose reel that provides field-ready fire suppression capability.

These dual auger grain carts are available in 1100, 1300, 1500, 1700, and 2200 bushel sizes.
