Ag Minister Stewart has eye focused on improving transportation of Saskatchewan grain

With the spring sitting of the Legislature beginning Monday afternoon, one of the issues guaranteed to be addressed are the issues that surround grain transportation.

Minister of Agriculture Lyle Stewart says after having several far ranging discussions with Saskatchewan farmers, one thing is clear: They are extremely disappointed by the prolonged delays in moving grain to market this winter.

“We’ve spoken to both railways, we know what they are promising to do, we know that neither of their records have been stellar as far as meeting their obligations.”

Stewart says he wants to make it clear to the house and to the railways they need to execute for the benefit of everybody.
