Alberta Crop Report

Weather conditions in Alberta have allowed farmers to make some good progress on the harvest.

Ken Handford, a Product Development Analyst with Alberta's Agriculture Financial Services Corporation says farmers have been busy.

"Forty-eight per cent of the crop is in the bin as of last week, that's about seven per cent above the previous five year average.
The yields provincially are about 12% above the previous five year average."

He notes on a regional basis all the areas are ahead on the harvest compared to the previous five year average.

"This ranges from the areas being slightly ahead of average, about one per cent, in the South and the Peace, the other areas of
the province are about ten percent above where they've been in the last five years."
