Announcement the closing for Tented City on Wednesday September 20th.

After a fantastic Opening Day full of smiles, laughter and in spite of unexpected weather conditions – it is with a heavy heart that we announce the closing for Tented City on Wednesday September 20th.  Tented City will reopen Thursday September 21st.  Our lives – who we are – comes from this land – and by opening the gates tomorrow we would not be stewards of the land for the future – a foundation of the International Plowing Match and Rural Expo.

Furthermore, the safety of our visitors and all who help to put on this Match is our priority.

We promise to have a jam packed full three remaining days, from Thursday September 21st to Saturday September 23rd.  A few highlights include George Canyon, Eric Ethridge, The Dancing Tractors, Dodge Ram Rodeo, Marilyn Smith and Frankie Flowers.

The Education Committee is working with schools to make alternate arrangements.   If you wish to see and attend the 4H Invitational Show for the Brussels Fall Fair 4‐H Show – it has been relocated back to its original home of Brussels Arena.  We look forward to welcoming you back Thursday!

Video: CHP Talks: Paul Bootsma—Christian Farmers Federation of Ontario #farmers #agriculture

My guest this week is Mr. Paul Bootsma, Policy Coordinator for the Christian Farmers Federation of Ontario (CFFO). We discuss his policy work at the CFFO and how the organization advocates for farmers with both the federal and provincial governments. We also discuss the current issue of waste at some small abbatoirs (slaughter facilities) in Ontario where there seems to be a pattern of excessive condemnation of animal carcasses by provincial inspectors, raising cost for both farmers and abbatoir owners.
