Chicken Industry Enhancing Governance

OTTAWA, ON – Chicken Farmers of Canada (CFC) hosted a governance strategy session that included participation from the Chicken Farmers of Ontario (CFO), the CFC Board of Directors, and the other provincial chicken boards from across the country.

The strategy session focused on developing a better understanding of CFC and provincial roles and responsibilities and included discussions about how to improve collaboration and ensure that CFC and industry continue to work effectively, together.

“The chicken industry is strongest when we all work in tandem on strategic priorities and advance strong, progressive governance,” said Ed Benjamins, Chair of Chicken Farmers of Ontario. “It was my pleasure to work with my colleagues during this strategy session and I look forward to continuing to discuss how we as an industry can take our board governance practices to the next level.”

“We are committed to strong and sustainable governance which promotes the long- term interests of consumers, our farmers, and the chicken industry. It strengthens accountability and helps build confidence and trust in the supply management system and Chicken Farmers of Canada,” said Rob Dougans, President & CEO of Chicken Farmers of Ontario. “Good governance concerns both the effectiveness and accountability of the CFC Board of Directors. Effectiveness, and therefore the quality of leadership and the direction the Board provides, is measured by performance.”
