Choose the Apple of Your Eye

The Ontario government is encouraging shoppers to choose their favourite apple display for the final Foodland Ontario Consumers' Choice Award of 2019. This year marks the first time in 30 years that consumers are participating directly in the Foodland Ontario Retailer Awards program.

"With the last Consumers' Choice Award contest of the year, I want to thank all of our grocery retailers who participate in the annual industry competition for excellence in grocery store displays," said Ernie Hardeman, Minister of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs. "Ontario apples are nutritious, delicious and, because our farmers grow such a variety across the province, the displays are so enticing and colourful."

Consumers can vote by following Foodland Ontario on Instagram or Facebook and "liking" one of the top three grocery store display finalists. The Ontario apple display with the most "likes" or votes will receive the Consumers' Choice Award.

"Ontario apples are one of the healthiest and tastiest snacks available and come in many different varieties to suit all tastes," said Charles Stevens, Chair of Ontario Apple Growers. "We encourage consumers to have some fun and support our hardworking apple growers by picking a winner in this year's final Consumers' Choice Award Contest."

The apple display contest is the final Consumers' Choice Contest for 2019. Stay tuned for news on Foodland Ontario's Retailer Awards program in 2020!
