Corn and Soybean Harvest Progress Nears Average

After a favorably dry week, corn and soybean harvests neared normal progress levels for this point in the season, according to the USDA's National Agricultural Statistics Service for the week ending October 27.
 
Corn harvest was 44% complete, near 45% last year, and behind the five-year average of 50%.Corn condition rated 2% very poor, 6% poor, 20% fair, 56% good, and 16% excellent. Approximately 97% was mature, near 100% last year and 99% for the five-year average.
 
Soybeans harvested was 85%, ahead of 71% last year, and near the average of 84%.
 
Winter wheat condition rated 3% very poor, 8% poor, 28% fair, 48% good, and 13% excellent. Winter wheat emerged was 92%, near 88% last year and the average of 91%.
 
Sorghum condition rated 2% very poor, 5% poor, 20% fair, 62% good, and 11% excellent. Sorghum harvested was 41%, behind 57% both last year and for the average.
 
Dry edible beans harvest was 93% complete.
 
Pasture and range conditions rated 1% very poor, 3% poor, 19% fair, 63% good, and 14% excellent.
