Corn Crop On Par For Mid-June

The Manitoba Corn Growers Association is providing an update on this year's corn crop.

Agronomist Morgan Cott says the crop is on par for this time of year.

"Generally it's looking pretty good, I'm fairly happy with the crop. A little stagy, I think is probably the worst thing that's happening, just because of the dry, wet difficult soil bed conditions. I think that that's probably the worst of it."

Cott says some farmers have been spraying for cutworms.

She notes the soil has good moisture, adding some regions could use a little more.

There have been some instances of rapid grown syndrome.
