USMCA Ruling Supports Illinois Corn Exports
A favorable outcome from the USMCA dispute settlement panel has brought relief and optimism to corn farmers across the United States. IL Corn Growers Association President Garrett Hawkins highlighted the victory's impact, stating, "The panel’s decision affirms ICGA’s position that Mexico is not abiding by the terms of the USMCA." The dispute began following a decree by Mexico's President Lopez Obrador, aimed at phasing out glyphosate and genetically engineered corn, which led to modifications and eventual challenges under the USMCA framework.
