Federal Ag Minister ready to debate amended grain transportation legislation

Federal Agriculture Minister Lawrence MacAulay expects debate on the amended grain transportation legislation to begin this week.

Saskatchewan farm groups are calling for quick passage of the proposals.

MacAulay said some of the key provisions include railway inter-switching and reciprocal penalties for grain shippers and the railways.

“I’m not sure if I’m supposed to announce that, but I do expect it will be in the house this week,” he said.

“Hopefully it will be dealt with quite quickly and then down to the Senate, they’ll deal with it and that’s the process,” MacAulay added.
