Grain Corn Harvest Starting

Manitoba's grain corn harvest is underway.

Anne Kirk is a cereal crop specialist with Manitoba Agriculture.

"Harvest is just starting. I think in the central part of the province, harvest began this week or the end of last week. I think that frost that we got a few weeks ago, that was a pretty hard frost, kind of wide-spread throughout the province, that definitely helped dry things down."

Kirk says bushel weight might be a bit lighter in some areas due to that frost.

She expects limited amounts of drying this fall.
