Grain Farmers of Ontario Cancels the 2020 March Classic

GUELPH, ON – Grain Farmers of Ontario, the province‘s largest commodity organization, representing Ontario‘s 28,000 barley, corn, oat, soybean, and wheat farmers today made the difficult decision to cancel the 2020 March Classic, scheduled for March 24, 2020 in London, ON.

The Ontario government has advised that all events hosting more than 250 people be cancelled to help prevent the spread of the COVID-19 virus. Given that attendance to the March Classic has been close to 1000 attendees in some years, Grain Farmers of Ontario has decided to follow that advice for the safety of its farmer-members, staff, and their communities.

“The March Classic is one of the premier events in Ontario agriculture and we are incredibly proud of the work our team has done each year in making this a world-class conference. We have been watching the COVID-19 situation closely as it unfolds in Ontario and we deliberated on whether or not to move forward with the show, but our concerns for farmer-members safety, and the safety of all attendees, sponsors, exhibitors, and staff, ultimately led to the decision to cancel the conference” said Barry Senft, CEO, Grain Farmers of Ontario.
