Grain Farmers of Ontario Names Crosby Devitt as New Chief Executive Officer

GUELPH, ON – Grain Farmers of Ontario, the province’s largest commodity organization, representing Ontario’s 28,000 barley, corn, oat, soybean, and wheat farmers today names Crosby Devitt as Chief Executive Officer as of April 1, 2020. Devitt was the successful candidate of a rigorous five-month recruitment process.

Grain Farmers of Ontario’s Board of Directors began a very extensive search in late September when Barry Senft, current CEO of Grain Farmers of Ontario, announced his upcoming retirement from the organization at the September 2019 AGM.

“The CEO search brought forward remarkable candidates. The selection committee was inarguably impressed with Crosby’s vision for Grain Farmers of Ontario and his natural leadership,” said Markus Haerle, Chair, Grain Farmers of Ontario. “There was a pool of strong, international candidates, but Crosby was the clear, best fit to lead Grain Farmers of Ontario into its second decade.”

Devitt is currently the Vice President, Strategic Development at Grain Farmers of Ontario. Prior to this role, Devitt was Executive Director of the Canadian Seed Trade Association (CSTA). Before his leadership at CSTA, Devitt held several roles with the Grain Farmers of Ontario.

“Crosby’s unique experience gives him insight into all the teams, staff, and vision of Grain Farmers of Ontario. I am exceptionally pleased to see this appointment and Crosby is an excellent choice to lead this strong staff,” continued Haerle.

Demco's dual auger grain cart is designed for unloading efficiency, operator visibility, and safety in the field.

This dual-auger design features both an unload auger and a floor auger for enhanced grain cleanout and consistent flow, and the 22-inch unload auger is capable of moving up to 600 bushels per minute.

Farmers can also choose between right or left-handed unload options—right-handed unload improves visibility from the tractor cab. A new design allows both vertical and horizontal movement for precise grain placement during unloading.

Another key feature is the built-in fire safety system; a 300-gallon onboard water tank with a hose reel that provides field-ready fire suppression capability.

These dual auger grain carts are available in 1100, 1300, 1500, 1700, and 2200 bushel sizes.
