Honey Bee headers are a common site in fields at harvest time across the Prairies.
Tuesday at Canada's Farm Show the farm equipment manufacturer unveiled the AirFlex NXT.
Perry Gryde, Honey Bee's North American sales manager says it's the next innovation for the company.
He says several years ago, they introduced a flex table to the marketplace and this takes it to the next step.
"What this does for the grower is it just enhances what was already a good feature on our product. You know, being able to really follow ground and terrain while you're cutting right on the ground. And now you can have the flexibility to adjust that up to eight inches and still get the same contour following performance out of the product."
It also includes a number of other features including narrow-end shields which reduces the trampling of canola, in the end resulting in less yield loss.
Gryde says the AirFlex NXT switches from flex to rigid mode right from the combine cab.
The fully flexible air-controlled cutter bar shaves the ground in flex mode while being able to move through taller crops like canola and cereals in rigid mode.
He notes it's a featherlight machine adding that farmer trials have shown that producers are pleased with the ease of operation, and the close cut they can get with how it contours to the ground.
"For us, it's a strong fit for the pulse market to start with but also in Western Canada into the cereal grains. It's an excellent straight-cut table for canola, and I guess probably the other neat thing is we also released a 60-foot flex table."
Gryde says as far as he knows it's the only 60-foot flex table in North America.
Honey Bee has been running a rigid version of the 60-foot table in Australia for a few years, and this is the first release in North America.
He notes its going to be a limited release and may be a good fit for farmers doing controlled traffic farming.
The new innovations are on display at Honey Bee's booth this week at Canada's Farm Show.
