Introducing the CLAAS Earlage Adapter and V-Flex Knife Drum
In case you missed it, CLAAS had a big year for its forage harvesters.
The manufacturer celebrates the 50th anniversary of its iconic Jaguar forage harvester in 2024, marking half a century of innovation in the marketplace.
To commemorate this milestone, CLAAS continues its innovation quest by introducing two new upgrades: the CLAAS Earlage Adapter and the V-Flex Knife Drum, each designed to boost efficiency and durability.
Farms.com met with Alan Osterhaus, product specialist with CLAAS, to learn more about each of these innovations.
Enhanced Crop Handling with CLAAS Earlage Adapter
The new CLAAS Earlage Adapter improves crop handling with a full-width feed drum, larger diameter, and shorter distance from the front to the back edge. This design ensures faster and cleaner crop feeding.
Its faceplate rotates side to side and contours to the ground, enhancing adaptability. The multi-link coupler seamlessly connects the forage harvester controls to the combine head, eliminating extra wires and improving operational convenience.
Additional features include adjustable deck plates and a user-friendly latching system, operated from one side, ensuring ease of use in all conditions.
Efficiency with the V-Flex Knife Drum
The V-Flex Knife Drum offers a versatile design compatible with 36-knife to 20-knife drums. It features a double half-knife arrangement for smooth crop flow and full-width knives mounted with three bolts for improved rigidity.
With 21% more surface area on the leading edge, the knives deliver a 21% longer service life. The top-mounted configuration also enhances durability and shock absorption, reducing potential damage from foreign objects.
