New Agriculture Communication Certificate program offered for the first time in Canada

Olds College of Agriculture and Technology is launching a new Agriculture Communications Certificate.

Debbie Thompson, VP, Academic & Student Experience says they're very excited to offer the first communications program in the country that is focused on supporting the agriculture and agri-food industry.

"Our students will learn both the fundamentals of marketing and communications, along with specific competencies in agriculture advocacy."

The one year program will be available online and will focus on writing, videography, photography, marketing and audio production.

It will also focus on strategic planning for social media, public relations and crisis communications.

Students will complete a 14-week internship within the agriculture and agri-food industry.

Bertrand Bickersteth, Instructor, Communications, Werklund School of Agriculture says Agriculture has important stories to tell.

"Graduates from this program will be equipped to work in the industry to share these stories in meaningful ways."

Applications for the program are now open with 20 students being accepted for the fall of 2023.
