New Case of PED Reported in Quebec

A new case of PED in a relatively isolated (more than 10 km to the nearest commercial pig site) finisher site in the Montérégie region was reported yesterday.  Nine of 12 oral fluid samples were positive and typical clinical signs were evident.

The trace back activities from the positive loading dock on Nov. 3 identified two positive trailers that led to this production site.
It is estimated that it took 7 days from shipment to identification of the farm case.  "All stakeholders (transporter, assembly yard, processor and producer) should be commended for their transparency and full cooperation".
