New Program To Help Students Learn About Agriculture

Canadian Western Agribition has launched it's first-ever Virtual Education Program.

CEO Chris Lane says they've partnered with the Province's Ministry of Agriculture in launching a year-round online platform that features content and learning for elementary aged students.

"Teachers or parents doing in-home learning can sign-in, it's all free of charge. Then what they'll see is a list of programs divided by topic or by ages, that the curriculum/materials has been specifically built to address. They'll be able to go through more than a dozen different programs and download materials for use in classroom and lesson planning, or in some cases they'll be redirected to one of our partners in the Agribition program to some content they have on their own site. So, in the example of the Stock Growers Association and its Beef Cattle education, we've linked directly to that site with some notes around lesson planning."

Lane says the educational aspect of Canadian Western Agribition has always been a big drawing card with close to 10,000 students going through the show during the event.

CWA's Virtual Education Program is a year-round resource for all students, accessible through the Agribition website, with new material being added as it becomes available.

He notes it will also help students, teachers and parents as they prepare to visit the show in person so they can get the most out of their Agribition experience.

Canadian Western Agribition is busy preparing for their 2021 show which they hope will be held in person November 22-27, 2021.

Breaks are hard to come by in harvest. That’s why we took the MtoM podcasting equipment to the field to visit on the issues of the day with April Hemmes of Hampton, Iowa. She filled us in on her thoughts on trade negotiations, inputs costs and machinery prices. Then she turned the tables and put Paul behind the steering wheel and started asking her own questions.
