Ontario Cultivating Future Agri-food Leaders in Rural Ontario

Ontario's government is helping provide hands-on experiences for future agri-food leaders through its continued support of 4-H Ontario. Building the leadership and life skills of youth will help create jobs and grow the agricultural sector, which will benefit everyone in the province.

"Many of today's agriculture and rural leaders learned skills through 4-H just as youth do in communities across Ontario," said Ernie Hardeman, Ontario's Minister of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs. "Our young leaders - like those participating in 4-H programs across the province - are the foundation of the future success of the agri-food sector. Delivering these important agri-food programs will help our next generation of farmers and leaders learn essential skills and inspire them to explore agri-food careers."

"4-H is dedicated to providing youth with invaluable experiences through hands-on learning that empowers personal and professional growth," says Evelyn Chambers, Interim Executive Director at 4-H Ontario. "With the commitment from the Ontario Government, 4-H is pleased to be able to continue to build leaders within their communities and as assets to the world."

For more than 100 years, 4-H Ontario has given youth life-long leadership skills and hand-on learning on topics such as technology and science, livestock and agriculture, financial management, food preparation and nutrition and career development in all industries.
