Program to promote local marketing: Federal and Quebec governments offer financial support to the Fairbairn House Heritage Centre

Jean-Claude Poissant, Parliamentary Secretary for Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada, and Stéphanie Vallée, Quebec’s Minister of Justice, Minister responsible for the Outaouais Region and Member of the National Assembly for Gatineau, announced funding of up to $66,265 for the Fairbairn House Heritage Centre to create and produce a bilingual, interactive, travelling exhibition, “Where does your food come from? / La provenance de vos aliments.” Mr. Poissant made the announcement on behalf of the federal Minister of Agriculture and Agri-Food, Lawrence MacAulay; and the Minister of Canadian Heritage, Mélanie Joly. Ms. Vallée spoke on behalf of Quebec’s Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, Laurent Lessard.

Funding for the project in the amount of $29,550 comes from the Quebec Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food’s Programme Proximité, under the Canada–Quebec agreement known as Growing Forward 2 / Cultivons l’avenir 2. Another $36,715 was contributed by Canadian Heritage through its official languages funding programs. The project will be carried out in partnership with the Quebec Farmers’ Association and the Union des producteurs agricoles.
