Ralco Launches Anchor for Silage Powered by Microbial Catalyst® Technology

Agnition, a brand of Ralco, announced today that it is launching Anchor™ for Silage, a state-of-the-art inoculant blend, powered by patented Microbial Catalyst® technology that rapidly lowers pH levels and locks-in nutrients. Enhanced forage preservation of silage, haylage or high-moisture grain results in less dry matter loss, reduced heating and superior livestock performance.

Anchor™ for Silage incorporates a unique blend of beneficial bacteria that work together like a relay team to drive efficient fermentation that rapidly reduces pH.  The versatile product is also powered by Microbial Catalyst® technology that stimulates the inoculant and increases microbial activity of naturally occurring beneficial bacteria in silage. Agnition Product Manager Mike Holmberg said the dual action of Anchor™ for Silage makes it a product unlike any other.

“Our patented Microbial Catalyst® technology provides silage producers with an opportunity to move beyond adding inoculant to drive preservation, but to utilize the beneficial bacteria that are already in the silage. This gives Anchor™ for Silage a dual-pronged approach that leads to a more rapid drop in pH and better preservation. Also, because our technology is highly soluble the product is available for either liquid or dry application. This makes it very easy-to-use,” Holmberg said.

The inoculant in Anchor™ for Silage is made up of micro-encapsulated granules that contain a proprietary blend of lactic-acid producing bacteria. The outer layer of a gradual seals it for storage and quickly dissolves for rapid rehydration. Enzymes make up the next layer and create additional food for the bacteria. Finally, the bacteria are surrounded by sugars that serve as an immediate food source.

“This is truly a premier silage preservation technology. We have combined everything we know about inoculants and our Microbial Catalyst®, which has been a core technology of our company for more than 45 years. Research demonstrates that silage treated with Anchor™ for Silage has greater energy availability and that is what cattle need to perform,” Holmberg said.

Anchor™ for Silage is available in a 1 lb. foil bag that treats 200 tons of fresh silage for typical application, a 1 lb. foil bag that treats 500 tons of fresh silage for custom choppers and a 50 lb. bag that treats 50 tons of fresh silage for dry application. OMRI listed product is also available.

Agnition is a brand of Ralco, a third-generation, family-owned multinational company with distribution in more than 20 countries. Ralco is a leading global supplier of livestock nutrition, animal health products and crop enhancement technologies that support large segments of the livestock, poultry, aquaculture and crop production industries.
