Recap: OFT’s 20th Anniversary

Thank you to everyone who joined us for the Ontario Farmland Trust’s 20th Anniversary Celebration! We are so grateful to have such wonderful supporters join us in celebrating this momentous occasion.

We would like to give a big thank you to the businesses that donated to our silent auction and our Flavours of Farmland baskets, and also to everyone who bid in the auction.

Our celebration was made even more special with live music by Derek O’Halloran, Phil of GoodLot Farmstead Brewing Co. leading our guests through an informative brewery tour, and a beautiful dinner with locally sourced ingredients prepared by Chef Phil DeWar. To top it off, our Executive Director Martin Straathof, and Board Chair, Margaret Walton highlighted OFT’s achievements and ambitious goals.

Margaret Walton, Board Chair, summarized it best:

“We at the Trust know we are at a crossroad. It is time for our organization to build on the work of the last 20 years that we are celebrating tonight and expand our reach and our impact. [Ontario] has outstanding resources, and with climate change and our access to prime land, water and skilled operators, we will have an increasingly important role in feeding Canadians and the world. We are committed to the critical mission we have taken on. And we invite all Ontarians to join us.”

Thank you for your continued support and we are looking forward to all that we are planning for the next 20 years of the Ontario Farmland Trust.

Here’s to another 20 years of safeguarding our agricultural heritage! 🌱
