Riding for the Brand

With the pandemic, a number of organizations have turned to online auctions as a way to try and maintain operations.

The Saskatchewan Stock Growers Association is once again holding their Riding for the Brand Fundraising Auction on DLMS.

President Kelcy Elford says it helps to keep the office rolling.

"This auction was such a success last year, during COVID. We were looking for different ways of generating revenue, because we weren't able to have our AGM. What this auction does for the Stock Growers is it helps us run day to day. Helps us pay for mileage, which is quite expensive these days, and it helps us in our lobby efforts. "

He notes, once again, a number of people have stepped up to the plate and made some pretty good donations for the auction.

"If you go into DLMS. It's an online timed auction, and you can scroll through and see all the items that are on there. There is something for everybody from BBP training time, to a trip to Hawaii or an African Safari, a Mexico trip or a couple of fishing trips. One on the South Sask River and other one up north. We've got a couple of barbecue smokers, there's some YETI Coolers. It's a wide range of things for everyone. So if you're thinking, I'm not a stock grower it's all livestock stuff, No there's something for everybody. There's Labor Day tickets, it's worth having a look just to see if there's something you'd like. It's a donation to the Stock Growers and truly the work that we do benefits all the producers in the province, and we do have the producer's best interest in mind at all times."

The Saskatchewan Stock Grower's Riding for the Brand Fundraising Auction on www.dlms.ca wraps up with a 6 PM with a soft close Wednesday, March 30th.

Video: This Is Going To Be A Nightmare!

This year has been anything but normal, and after Day 1 of combine harvesting, it's very evident this harvest is going to be a nightmare. With the 13-inch rain event hammering our fields in June, the effects still linger as the season comes to an end. The massive flooding made our corn very short and highly variable in moisture, which is making it extremely difficult to properly set the farm equipment. Join me in today’s video as we take on harvest Day 1 and learn why this year is very different from a normal harvest season for our farm
