Saskatchewan Agriculture Community Worried Over Proposed Federal Taxes

 
There’s growing anger in Saskatchewan over proposed federal tax adjustments and two farm groups have sent submissions to Ottawa opposed to the changes.
 
APAS president Todd Lewis says the tax proposals will make it difficult for the family farm to survive from one generation to the next.
 
He is asking agriculture to be exempt from key provisions.
 
“That’s certainly what we would like to see,” Lewis said. “The Federal Government says they’re hearing lots of input. And if they’re listening or not, time will tell, I guess.”
 
The Western Canadian Wheat Growers Association has also sent a submission to the federal finance ministry this week, saying the tax proposals will devastate the rural community.
 
Finance Minister Bill Morneau says the federal government wants to make sure they take into account the public’s point of view
