Show your 4-H Colours on November 6

Every November, 4-H members, leaders, alumni, and supporters alike don their 4-H green and come together to spread awareness of 4-H and support the positive impacts the 4-H program is making in Canada and abroad. This celebration highlights the incredible things 4-H youth are doing in their communities and how the 4-H program is creating responsible, caring, and contributing young leaders.

Established in 2007, this campaign celebrates everything that is 4-H while giving back to 4-H. As a movement, we believe there are countless ways to celebrate 4-H and to give back to the program, and we are encouraging members of the 4-H community and beyond to explore how to do that. By wearing green, celebrating, and giving back, you are showing your 4-H colours. Together, we are making a difference in Canadian communities by inspiring youth to “Learn To Do By Doing”.

Celebrating 111 Years of 4-H in Canada

For 111 years, 4-H has been one of the most well-respected youth-serving organizations in Canada. 4-H gives youth opportunities to “Learn To Do By Doing” through a dedicated group of volunteer leaders and mentors who deliver world-class positive youth development programming in the areas relevant to today’s youth.

Today, 4-H has over 19,000 members and over 7,000 volunteers in Canada. 4-H nurtures responsible, caring, and contributing youth leaders who are committed to positively impacting their communities.

4-H is one of the largest, most respected youth development organizations in Canada.

4-H provides youth with the guidance, resources, and opportunities to become contributing members of their community, their country, and the world, by preparing them for the various paths of life, and encouraging them to find their sense of self, purpose, and responsibility.

Positive Youth Development

At the centre of all 4-H programs is the positive youth development, or PYD formula.  Positive youth development is an approach to understanding and working with children and adolescents that focuses on building assets and celebrating strengths.
