Southern Manitoba Company Hosting Farm Show In Red Deer, Alberta

With the majority of farm shows cancelled this year, a Southern Manitoba company has decided to host its own trade show in Red Deer, Alberta.

The Thanks For Farming Tour will take place November 11th and 12th, 2020 at Westerner Park.

Jeremy Matuszewski is the founder of Winkler-based Thunderstruck Ag Equipment.

"When the biggest show that we do in Canada and actually our best show in North America cancelled, which is Agri-Trade in Alberta, we were talking to them and they expressed some interest in us putting on a smaller Thanks For Farming Tour event in Red Deer. We've got a pretty sweet event planned."

He notes safety will be paramount at the show.

"We're going to be doing temperature checks. We're going be providing every attendee, and every exhibitor, all of the staff, with what's called a cap shield. It mounts right on the front of a baseball cap. We're going to be doing hand sanitizer, one-way traffic, physical distancing. But we're really focusing on producing a fun, safe event."

The show will feature the latest in technology and innovation, as well as informational speakers. Over 70 companies will be taking part. Five hundred tickets per day will be sold with proceeds going to two local Alberta charities (Red Deer Legion Air Cadet Program & Smiles Thru Lindsey).

Matuszewski says the tour, which held nine smaller events over the summer, is their way of giving back to farmers.
