The AgExplorer website, an informative tool made to help students explore agricultural careers, is more useful than ever thanks to extensive updates. Made available through the FFA, AgExplorer assists students and educators with features such as career quizzes, information about career focus areas, virtual field trips and classroom tools.
With increased focus on personal interests and professional preferences, the website seeks to get to know students and match them with a career they will thrive in. Megan McGrady, Senior education consultant at the FFA, has explained that the goal is to have website that is easy to navigate and engages users.
“The agricultural industry goes far beyond the farm, and that is something that not all kids realize,” says AEM Director of Agricultural Services, Austin Gellings, “and that goes for both farm kids as well as those who are just interested in where their food comes from.” AgExplorer aims to educate students on all of the jobs that exist throughout the agricultural supply chain, while also pairing them up with jobs that would fit their future interests.
As the labor gap continues to go unfilled, tools like the AgExplorer website could be the key to engaging, attracting and retaining the workforce of the future.
