USDA NASS: Corn Planting at 50%, Soybean at 13%

Corn planting in Nebraska was nearly 50% complete as of Sunday, according to the USDA's National Agricultural Statistics Service. While average temperatures were one to two degrees below normal last week, warmer, drier conditions at week's end favored planting. Soybean planting was 13% complete.
 
Corn planting, at 48%, neared 49% last year, but fell behind the five-year average of 55%. Emerged was 10%, near 14% last year, and behind the five-year average of 15%.
Nationally, corn planting was 47% complete, compared to 61% last year and the five-year average of 52%. Fifteen percent of the crop had emerged.
Soybeans planting was 13% complete, near 11% last year, but behind the five-year average of 18%.
Nationally, 14% of the crop had been planted, behind 21% last year and the five-year average of 17%
Winter wheat condition rated 2% very poor, 15% poor, 47% fair, 31% good, and 5% excellent.Winter wheat jointed was 77%, near 80% last year, but ahead of 58% average. Headed was 1%, behind 9% both last year and average.
Sorghum planting was at 5%, near 4% last year and 8% for the average.
Oats condition rated 0% very poor, 0% poor, 9% fair, 88% good, and 3% excellent. Oats planted was 94%, ahead of 89% last year, and near 93% average. Emerged was 76%, near 78% last year and 73% average. Jointed was 1%.

Topsoil moisture supplies rated 3% very short, 8% short, 81% adequate, and 8% surplus. Subsoil moisture supplies rated 6% very short, 12% short, 76% adequate, and 6% surplus.
