Virtual Milking Parlor Tour

Virtual Milking Parlor Tour

By Greg Strait

Did you know that cows are milked two times a day and sometimes three depending on the farm? Did you know that there are seven recognized breeds of dairy cows in the United States, with the Holstein breed being the most popular? An average Holstein cow gives over 10 gallons of milk each day and is on the store shelf ready for you to drink within 48 hours after leaving the farm. Cow health and comfort is top priority on all dairy farms. Clean bedding, fans, and sprinkler systems are utilized to make their housing environment enjoyable. Each farm has a specialized diet for their cows that is designed by a nutritionist. This ensures cows are being provided with a balanced diet to meet their dietary needs.
